In the French national Health News channel, this issue was related to in introducing a new treatment being performed at Tenon Hospital in Paris: Linear Shockwave Therapy. Drugs are not always effective against erectile dysfunction. Sometimes the penis is not vascularized enough to allow the necessary inflow of blood needed for a good quality erection.  Tenon Hospital, in Paris, is offering Renova’s Linear Shock Wave Therapy (by DirexGroup).  For this treatment, a device emits low intensity shockwaves on the penis of the patient for twenty minutes. Dr. Jean-Baptiste Terrasa, urologist, is shown treating a patient (found in the link below).  The mechanism of action: "the machine generates shockwaves that will diffuse into the penis and act on the vessels. The shockwaves will generate angiogenesis in the vessels which are going to trigger factors that heal and repair the vessels. This repeated stimulation will allow the vessels to heal and in particular to create new ones. " 

Initial patients have already been treated using the second generation low intensity shockwave device (LSWT). The treating urologist reported that the treatments went well, with no discomfort to the patient, and acknowledged the device’s simple operation.
