Direxgroup will launch its newest developments, the electromagnetic Duet Magna lithotripter and the Tempro RF thermal therapy system , at the BAUS congress to be held at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow, from June 23-25, 2009.
Duet Magna is a unique lithotripter combining two shockwave sources and electromagnetic technology. The Magna DSWL (Double Shock Wave Lithotripsy), produces a unique "Butterfly" Focal Volume proven to reduce significantly kidney damage compared to all single source lithotripters which produce "Cigar Shaped" Focal Volume. In Cigar shaped Focal Volumes, only the central part contributes to stone fragmentation whereas the distal and proximal areas contribute only to kidney damage. The Butterfly focal area is a closer approximation to a spherical focal area which is the Ideal Focal Volume to treat stones. In addition, DSWL divides the total energy reaching the stone into two different volumes, so that half of the energy reaches the stone from an Upper Volume while the second half comes from a Lower Volume.
Direx introduces Chronic Abacterial Prostatitis / CPPS treatment with Tempro Thermotherapy System. Tempro, a thermal therapy device that treats symptomatic BPH and Prostatitis, provides prostate thermal heating by delivering Radio Frequency power to the prostate tissue, via an applicator located in the Prostatic urethra. A computer controlled Bipolar RF generator delivers its power to a special multi-electrode applicator. Safety is assured by measuring continuously the maximum temperature using 3 sensors.
