Chronic Abacterial Prostatitis / CPPS is a common, bothersome syndrome in men which is poorly defined, poorly understood, and poorly treated. 

Direx-Initia started an effort for treatment of this illness using thermal

therapy and is presently conducting a multi-site study for Chronic 

Abacterial Prostatitis patients at centers in Europe and Asia. 

The NIH Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index and the Quality of Life

Index are used to evaluate the severity of symptoms and further

improvements. Initial results are encouraging and will be presented

at the upcoming EAU Congress in Stockholm March 17 to 20. 

Tempro, a thermal therapy device that treats symptomatic BPH and 

Prostatitis, provides prostate thermal heating by delivering Radio Frequency 

power to the prostate tissue, via an applicator located in the Prostatic urethra. 

A  computer controlled Bipolar RF generator delivers its power to a special

multi-electrode applicator. Safety is assured by measuring continuously the

maximum temperature using 3 sensors.
