Two Lithotripters in One
The Duet Shock Wave Lithotripter is the only lithotripter to offer an innovative dual-source treatment method. By providing two completely independent shock wave sources, the Duet has effectively cut the treatment time in half.

Since the Duet provides two shock wave sources, focused on a single target, the operator has the option to choose the shock wave source location or dual source operation. With two lithotripters in one, speed and versatility are at hand. |
Imaging Options
Localization can be done using a variety of imaging modalities. X-Ray localization is achieved using C-Arm fluoroscopy imaging devices including the specially designed 3D-Scope. A number of ultrasound systems are also available for radiation-free treatments.
The 3D-Scope is an advanced digital, pulsed fluoroscopy unit. By providing an exceptionally clear image with a 9-inch Image Intensifier, the 3D-Scope simplifies the stone localization process. The unit's digitally captured images have a resolution of one million pixels with 10 bits per pixel. The 3D-Scope is also capable of High-Level Fluoroscopy, making it possible to locate even the most challenging stones.
The ultrasound probe is horizontally positioned and aligned with the Y-axis between the two shock wave heads. This allows the probe to focus on the system's unique focal point for real-time lithotripsy imaging capabilities while simplifying the localization process.

The Image Processing Advantage
The Duet is operated via a universal console (UCON). Through the CONSOLE, the operator controls all shock wave generator, patient table, and digital image processing functions. A powerful, user-friendly imaging application is the driving force behind the console's capabilities. Beyond the functional commands for operation purposes,
the application supports image manipulation and enhancement capabilities such as brightness, contrast, gamma, and mathematical digital filtering functions. These controls, and more, allow the operator to manipulate any image, clarifying, sharpening, and archiving it for future use. Any captured image can be saved to a database with all the necessary patient information attached. |
Modular Architecture
The Duet is a compact modular unit designed as such for maximum flexibility and versatility. The Shock Wave Generator is an upright unit easily transported and stored. The CONSOLE is also easily transported and, due to its versatility, can be used with numerous image-capturing devices. The DUET's mobile multi-function urological table is a standalone
unit incorporating an X-ray transparent tabletop, motorized XYZ motion, all the accessories required for SWL, and Trendelenburg motion. Therefore, it can be used for conventional urological treatment, as well as SWL. The unit can also be controlled via the CONSOLE. |
