ACCUKNIFE - ADD-ON FOR OLD AND NEW LINACS


GENERAL

AccuKnife is an integrated family of products including AccuLeaf, the world's first 4 Bank (cross-leaves) Micro Multi-Leaf Collimator (mMLC) and AccuSoft XL Treatment Planning system. AccuKnife offers a comprehensive solution for advanced treatments which avoids the necessity to upgrade the LINAC.

The integrated solution offers safety, accuracy and ease of use, enabling users of existing LINACS to join the elite group of IMRT, IMAT and SRS users. Software interface to the Linac is not required.

Industry's First 4 Bank (cross-leaves) MMLC

An important clinical goal in Radiotherapy is to spare normal tissue and minimize irradiated volume to best fit the defined Target volume. A single-axis mMLC must compromise optimal shaping in more irregular shaped tumors. AccuLeaf is the worlds first 4 Bank (X and Y axis) Micro Multi-Leaf Collimator. AccuLeaf's patented technology performs the "best-fit" by covering the second dimension of the beam's eye view (BEV) shaping. With AccuLeaf you also get better resolution and the lowest leakage for delivery of Intensity Modulated Arc Therapy (IMAT), Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Fractionated Radiotherapy. AccuLeaf is (practically?) compatible with all Linacs which incorporates simple interfacing.

Improved Beam Sharpness

Tumor sites have varied shapes and differing critical structure relationships. Whether treating small brain lesions or large pelvis lesions, AccuLeaf has the flexibility to encompass most target sizes and shapes while delivering ideal margins. AccuLeaf's 4 bank technology provides improved beam sharpness. The system's small inner leaves ensure conformity even around tightly margined lesions. Using the perpendicular set of leaves, AccuLeaf excels in forming irregular shapes.

Lowest Interleaf Leakage

The most important function of any blocking device is to minimize dosage outside the desired aperture. This concern is amplified when fields are small. In current MLC systems, the area of maximum transmission is the interleaf region. AccuLeaf cancels this interleaf region by crossing perpendicularly with the opposite set of leaves. This factor combined with the use of high quality Tungsten leaf material enables AccuLeaf to deliver the lowest interleaf leakage in the industry today.

DYNAMIC IMAT AND IMRT

Unique IMAT Delivery

AccuKnife provides the most advanced IMAT capability, resulting from the unique 4-bank collimation system. The AccuSoft XL utilizes an automated, forward-planning, aperture-based algorithm. The AccuLeaf provides, quickly and efficiently, the full range of aperture shapes with high-resolution aperture conformity, without the need for linac collimator rotation. The result is no-compromise treatment delivery with exacting precision to the treatment plan.

Advanced DIMRT Delivery

When delivering IMRT after optimization, Intensity Map beam-lets, whether large or smooth, can be highly irregular. Ultimately these maps must be segmented for leaf delivery. The resulting "peaks and valleys" affect the leaf path of travel. The intensity map becomes more irregular as the structure dose requirements are more complex, which results in greater compromise of the actual deliverable dose. In a single axis MLC, which has only one path (X or Y Axis), this compromise will be much more substantial. AccuLeaf ensures the best DIMRT delivery because it provides two paths of leaf travel rather than one path, so there is a better likeness of "optimized dose" to "deliverable dose".

3D Treatment Planning

3D Treatment Planning has become an essential part of Radiotherapy today. Unfortunately many centers must purchase treatment planning systems for each treatment modality, including Stereotactic Radiosurgery, MMLC Planning and/or Standard External Beam.

The AccuSoft XL Treatment Planning system can incorporate your complete teletherapy delivery strategy for IMAT, IMRT, Radiosurgery and Conformal treatment in a single comprehensive External Beam Treatment Planning Unit.

AccuSoft XL is a fast, simple and comprehensive planning system available today for contouring, calculating, optimizing or viewing.

AccuSoft XL is PC-based and provides advanced dose planning with the unique 4 bank AccuLeaf geometry. The system's single level user interface allows fast access to all planning tools. Networked workstations can be easily added to include physician contouring, as well as a virtual simulation.*

AccuFuse Image Fusion -

AccuSoft XL allows you to localize critical points and structures on DICOM-compliant multi-image formats. Use MR, PET or SPECT to delineate your target and structures, fuse the images and contours to CT, evaluate, optimize and finalize your treatment plan.

Positioning System

AccuMount, a non-invasive head fixation system, allows for superior sub-millimeter positioning. AccuMount offers multi-modality fiducial localization markers and repositioning for stereotactic treatment.

AccuMount's V4 fiducial pattern for localization ensures true 3D spatial localization and positioning.

AccuMount is compatible with other fixation and localization systems, including invasive head frames.
